Jacksonville: Hurricane Irma

A few weeks after Harvey hit Houston, Hurricane Irma hit Jacksonville Florida in September, 2017, resulting in the worst floodding in the city's 250-year history. Water levels rose more than 5 feet in some locations, inundating downtown streets and damaging homes and businesses. Irma resulted in 134 deaths and left behind an estimated $70 billon in damages.

A whole different ballgame

An Army vet, Alfonso lived in Jacksonville his whole life. After retiring, he bought this house along the Trout River in 2016, just in time to experience Hurricane Matthew, which caused the sea to rise almost into his backyard. But as he told us, "Hurricane Irma was a whole different ballgame.
